Sanitisers

Sanitising pool water treats bacteria, which can be harmful to people using the pool. Bacteria is caused by a wide variety of sources such as rain, dust, insects and birds. Sanitiser levels need to be maintained to keep bacteria at bay and also as an aid in controlling algae. BioGuard® offers several chlorine based pool sanitiser options, that present a cost effective alternative to Cal Hypo and other liquid chlorines. Our Sanitisers are user friendly, with many being non-dangerous goods. They are storage and transport friendly, simple to use and very effective in maintaining a healthy pool.

Power Chlor®

BioGuard® Power Chlor® is a revolutionary patented product. Each co-compacted granule contains trichlor for killing algae and bacteria, chlorine-tolerant clarifiers for keeping water crystal clear, and waterenhancing agents to provide a silky smooth feel to the water whilst reducing skin and eye irritation.

Smart Sticks®

BioGuard® Smart Sticks® are 225g sticks containing Smart Guard™. Designed for weekly skimmer application, they dissolve much slower than regular trichlor sticks or tablets when the pump is off and, as a result, can last up to twice as long.

Oxidisers

Oxidation removes swimmer wastes and destroys organic contaminants in the water. The aim of regular oxidationis to keep the pool water sparkling and clear of impurities. Oxidation also removes chloramines, which are the result of Free Chlorine reacting with nitrogen-based material in the water. Chloramines are often the cause of skin and eye irritation, and the overbearing smell often blamed erroneously on the chlorine itself.

Lite®

BioGuard® Lite® is a patented maintenance oxidizer for chlorinated pools with a unique blend of oxidising and clarifying agents that improves chlorine efficiency.

Burn Out Extreme®’s multifunctional granules provide a convenient and economical means for shocking swimming pools and for treating pools with chlorine demand and/or algae problems.

Algaecides

Traditionally, sanitisers have been used to treat and control algae but this is proving to be much less reliable as algae species become more diverse and resistant. This leads us to the need for control agents designed specifically to counter the defense mechanisms algae has developed to protect itself.

Even if we can’t see them, algae spores are always present and when they become active, they thrive on wastes in the water and dramatically multiply in numbers. It is important to control algae in swimming pools for health, safety and aesthetic reasons. An algae-infested swimming pool is also an expensive and frustrating problem to correct.

Back-Up® II

BioGuard® Back-Up® II is a copper-based algae inhibitor that works extremely well with chlorinating products to prevent a broad spectrum of algae growth.

BioGuard® AlgiGuard® is a highly effective quat-based algaecide that works well with chlorinating products to prevent a wide variety of algae.

• Stable in sunlight and will not evaporate.

• Prevents wide spectrum of algae growth.

MSA™ II

BioGuard® MSA™ II is a unique, patented, copperbased algaecide that works fast in curing most types of algae, including many mutant strains.

• 40g/L copper active present as copper sulphate.
• Will add between 0.4 and 0.7 ppm copper when properly applied.
• Non-foaming.
• Works in pools treated with chlorine or bromine.
• Easy to measure residual in the water.

Balancers

Water balance is important as it ensures that the mineral content of the water is in an appropriate state to protect the pool surface and equipment and make water more comfortable to swim in. Water balance is affected by a wide range of variables - the quality of the source water, what chemicals are going into the water, the exposure of the pool to weather conditions and so on.

A proper balance of chemical factors such as total alkalinity, pH and calcium, is needed for the sanitiser to work correctly, the water to be pleasant to swim in, and to prevent scaling or corrosion of the pool surface and equipment.

Stabiliser™

BioGuard® Stabiliser™ is a granular cyanuric acid that prevents chlorinatin product loss due to sunlight.

Product Features:

• 1000g/kg cyanuric acid (CYA).
• Prevents chlorine loss due to sunlight.
• For use with chlorine systems only (not suitable for use with Brominating Tablets).

BioGuard® Lo’N’Slo™ is a granular product designed to decrease Total Alkalinity and pH levels in pool water to prevent cloudy water, scale formation, high acid demand and poor chlorine efficiency.
